YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Manager – Mining, you will be part of the Geology Department. Given the remote location and scale of the operations, you may be required to broaden their scope of responsibilities and demonstrate proficiency and autonomy in relevant areas. You will ensure the proper geological practices of the team are being followed in terms of planning, organizing, managing and controlling programs to define and extract the mineral reserves/resources existing at the mining site and in its' vicinity. You will also play an important role in the life of mine and departmental cost management. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved by promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Manage the geology team, directing workflow and planning for the different workforce needs while ensuring proper levels of efficiency and productivity;
  • Propose and recommend mine site exploration, conversion and delineation drilling programs or any specific program required;
  • Plan, propose, recommend and follow-up on budgets (yearly and LOM) for the Geology Department;
  • Ensure proper reporting of the different geology activities (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly);
  • Plan, oversee, validate and/or sign off on mineral resources and mineral reserves estimates of the mine and developing projects while complying with laws and regulations;
  • Able to act as a Qualified Person for mineral resources in compliance with the NI standard;
  • Contribute to economic preliminary studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, coordinating the work of the team with the work of other disciplines, producing technical reports;
  • Provide and coordinate technical support in geology to operations;
  • Assess, organize and approve the required departmental trainings;
  • Keep the department at the forefront of new technologies, following the best practices in the mining industry;
  • Respect and promote the standards of the company and the governmental policies and regulations at play.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
  • 10 years of experience in underground mining environment;
  • Narrow vein gold exploration experience and exposure to longhole open stoping production is considered an asset;
  • Experience with feasibility study, mine start-up and production ramp-up;
  • Hold all qualifications and requirements to act as a Qualified Person as defined in the NI standard;
  • Supervisory experience and strong leadership skills;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word &
  • PowerPoint, knowledge of Deswik and Leapfrog are considered an asset.

Note that the official working language at our Hope Bay Project is English.

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: flexible FIFO schedules available (7/7, 10/10, or 14/14);
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
