As a Border Patrol Agent, you will be responsible for:
- Patrolling the international border and coastal waterways using various government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles.
- Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
- Preventing and apprehending undocumented non-citizens and smugglers of non-citizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations.
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must possess one year of general work experience that demonstrates ability to take charge make sound decisions maintain composure in stressful situations learn regulations methods techniques through classroom training on-the-job instruction gather concise information through questioning observation examination of documents records OR bachelor’s degree successful completion full four-year course study any field leading bachelor’s degree accredited college university OR combination general work experience successfully completed college education calculated resume official unofficial transcripts submitted application To qualify GL-7 grade level applicant must have one year specialized work experience shows skills necessary make sound judgments decisions use firearms deal effectively people courteous manner connection law enforcement matters analyze information rapidly make prompt decisions expected apply skills law enforcement capacity criminal code enforcement determining violations laws correctional rehabilitation work involving criminal offenders security military etc Education substitution GL-7 grade level bachelor’s degree superior academic achievement based class standing GPA 3.0 possible 4.0 honor society membership receive bachelor’s degree Superior Academic Achievement one full year graduate-level education field study related law enforcement e.g Criminal Justice Homeland Security Justice Studies Law Enforcement Courts Judicial Systems Forensic Technology Forensic Psychology Corrections Rehabilitation graduate studies earned within past five years calculated resume official unofficial transcripts submitted application Note if have previous current law enforcement military law enforcement experience may qualify GL-9 GS-11 grade level refer BPA GL-9 - 11 announcement
