The Data Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise data integration frameworks and infrastructure. This role requires hands-on expertise in ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data warehousing, with a focus on scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions. The individual will also mentor team members and define best practices for data management and integration. Essential Functions:
Lead the team to design, configure, implement, monitor, and manage all aspects of the Data Integration Framework, defining best practices to ensure optimal performance and reliability (20%). Develop and maintain infrastructure systems, including data warehouses and data lakes, and prepare/manipulate data using Hadoop or equivalent MapReduce platforms (20%). Provide detailed guidance and perform work related to modeling data warehouse solutions in the cloud or on-premise, including Dimensional Modeling, de-normalized data structures, OLAP, and general data warehousing concepts (15%). Oversee delivery of engineering data initiatives and projects, supporting long-term initiatives as well as ad-hoc analyses and ELT/ETL activities. Create frameworks for structured and unstructured data, applying extraction, transformation, and loading techniques across multiple sources (15%). Enforce best practices for data auditing, scalability, reliability, and application performance (15%). Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports and insights. Design, manage, and conduct quality control procedures for data sets from multiple systems (10%). Improve data engineering knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, benchmarking best practices, and participating in professional networks (5%). Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience leading data engineering teams and implementing scalable ETL/ELT solutions. Hands-on experience with application development, relational database layout, development, and data modeling. In lieu of education: An additional 4 years of relevant work experience may substitute for a degree. Preferred Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of at least one programming language (SQL, NoSQL, Python). Expert understanding of database design and implementation concepts. Expert knowledge of data exchange formats and data movement concepts. Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex issues. Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated ability to provide direction and lead technical teams effectively.
