We are redesigning two adjacent container units into a Family Support Studio (office crèche) for staff children.
We are seeking a creative interior designer to develop a strong visual concept mood board and spatial direction that clearly communicates how the space will look, feel and function.
This is not a branding exercise.
This is an interior design concept project.
We are looking for someone who can think spatially, translate a floor plan into atmosphere, and visually present a compelling direction to a client.
We welcome creative thinking and professional recommendations on what format best communicates the concept clearly.
About the Space
• Two container units
• Currently separated by a solid wall (may be connected internally)
• One bathroom
• One separate toilet
• Floor plan will be provided
You may propose whether the space should remain partially separated or fully opened, depending on your design thinking.
Capacity & User Profile
• Maximum 10 children
• Ages 0–10
• Each child is supervised (this is not an independent daycare facility)
• Space must support multi-age flexibility
The design must accommodate babies, toddlers and older children within a unified environment.
Functional Zones (Conceptual Direction)
The concept should thoughtfully address:
• Active learning / homework zone
• Play zone for younger children
• Quiet/rest area (maximum 3 toddler beds)
• Hygiene core (1 bathroom + 1 separate WC)
However, we encourage you to rethink zoning if you believe a different spatial strategy works better.
We are open to intelligent suggestions.
Design Direction
The overall atmosphere should feel:
• Calm
• Scandinavian-inspired
• Light wood tones
• Neutral colour palette
• Structured yet warm
• Elevated and intentional
• Minimal clutter
Avoid:
• Bright primary colour schemes
• Plastic-heavy nursery aesthetics
• Theme-based cartoon designs
This should feel like a refined family studio within a corporate environment not a daycare classroom.
What We Expect From You
We are primarily looking for strong visual communication.
Your concept should include:
• High-quality visual imagery (reference visuals that clearly show proposed atmosphere, materials and furniture direction)
• A structured mood board (not a random collage)
• Clear zoning explanation
• Layout thinking (overlay on provided floor plan if appropriate)
• Suggested furniture and spatial elements
You may choose the best format to present this, such as:
• A3 concept boards
• Presentation slides
• Annotated layout board
• 2D concept planning
• Or another format you believe best communicates the design
Please explain your chosen approach in your proposal.
Deliverables

Ideal Candidate
• Strong interior concept development skills
• Experience designing for children or educational spaces (preferred)
• Ability to work with compact or unconventional spaces
