Job Description
The Sports Medicine team in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Research Coordinator to join our research-driven and patient-focused team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead high-impact clinical and retrospective research in sports medicine, with a focus on shoulder instability, rotator cuff pathology, and hip arthroscopy.
The successful candidate will play a central leadership role in the coordination and execution of clinical studies, contributing to advancements in orthopedic and sports-related injury research.
Position Requirements
Education (Required)
Master's degree in a health-related field is required, with at least one year of relevant research experience beyond graduate studies. PhD applicants with applicable experience are welcome.
Experience
- Prior experience in clinical research coordination, including grant writing, data management, or related tasks.
- Experience leading or independently managing clinical research and/or retrospective studies.
- Proficiency in research methodologies, including statistical analysis, ethics applications, and research protocol development.
- Familiarity with patient-centered research, research databases, and large-scale data management.
- Familiarity with clinical sports medicine studies is considered a strong asset.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS or equivalent).
- Skills in data mining, data management, and large database analysis preferred.
Publication Skills
- Experience in manuscript preparation and submission to peer-reviewed journals is preferred.

Role Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate prospective and retrospective clinical research studies in topics including shoulder instability, rotator cuff pathology, and/or hip arthroscopy.
- Oversee all ongoing clinical and funded research studies to ensure adherence to project timelines, study milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor study progress, identify potential delays or barriers, and implement solutions to maintain project momentum and compliance.
- Oversee data quality by managing data entry, developing data audits, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Prepare and submit ethics applications, renewals, and amendments as required.
- Maintain multiple clinical research databases, including patient demographics, clinical assessments, surgical data, and outcomes.
- Coordinate research activities and research rotations for colleagues, students, and fellows within the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.
- Support grant applications and manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed orthopedic journals.
- Serve as a central member of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing patient care through research.
