Role Summary:
Management Analytics is an integral part of CPP Investments with the objective of evaluating how we generate incremental returns and manage our existing resources. It represents a management capability that can help us, over long horizons, iteratively improve the Fund's long-term investment performance.
The Associate, Financial Insights & Analysis is a key member of the Management Analytics group within Finance. The individual will be in a key role, providing input to key reporting deliverables and analytics for internal business partners and Senior Management across the Fund. They will be responsible for conducting exploratory analysis and research related to total Fund performance and cost activities, creating reports, validating numbers, and providing analysis that delivers meaningful insights. The role will require an influential voice and the development of an extensive network across the Fund in order to collaborate within and across departments.

- Work in a team to produce board and management reporting and coordinate within and across departments to help ensure a consistent and accurate 'story' throughout all reports and their audiences
- Provide an integrated, independent view of investment and business (performance, cost, and exposure) metrics from a total Fund lens, by leveraging data and cross-functional partnerships
- Support various departments' analytical and informational needs, including through automated dashboards, and serve as a main point of contact for Management Analytics functions
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across Finance, Office of the Chief Investment Officer, and Risk to drive integrated portfolio analysis, reporting and communication that provides board and management stakeholders with relevant information and insights
- Proactively anticipate information needs based on organizational priorities, working with Finance colleagues on the delivery of analysis in support of decision-making
- Support external peer cost and performance benchmarking activities, and work alongside internal and external information providers to develop novel analytical views
- Develop compelling materials to facilitate senior management discussions, and contribute to thought leadership and other major projects as required
- Address ad-hoc business requests to facilitate total Fund wide discussions and analyses
- Advance the adoption of evolving technological tools to enhance access to data and information, leading to increased 'speed-of-delivery'
- Manage workload to perform time-sensitive requests accurately and on time, while building effective working relationships within your team and across various groups at CPP Investments
Qualifications
- Exemplary critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate a disparate and information-intensive environment, through leveraging experience in technological tools, to execute analysis
- Highly organized with an ability to manage timelines effectively and independently for small projects and coordinate review processes with efficient version control and delivery
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to leverage emotional intelligence to support effective cross-department relationships and to meet stakeholder requirements
- Ability to combine a commercial approach to decision-making with an interest in understanding the details, to provide situation-tailored solutions and recommendations
- Bring a continuous improvement approach and the ability to work collaboratively to enhance existing process and develop novel approaches to execution
- Proven skill in working with, analyzing big data sets, and combining different and often complex sources of information and turning them into useful insights for stakeholders
- Excel in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to quality, operating independently as needed with a self-motivating and purpose-driven mindset
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Relevant professional designation from a globally reputed professional body (e.g., CPA or CFA) or progression toward one is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g Tableau, PowerBI) or database programming languages (Python, SQL) is an asset
