Job Description
Manufacturing Project Management focuses on the execution of Manufacturing Engineering, PLP (Production Launch Process), MVB (Manufacturing Validation Build) and FPI (Final Piece Inspection) efforts by managing scope, cost, and schedule while considering Production resources, project milestones, and existing departmental procedures. The project manager collaborates with various manufacturing groups to resolve day-to-day issues and, as needed, guides them to keep internal and external stakeholders informed of progress and status on the responsible projects and tasks under their responsibility.

Key Job Elements

  • Lead or support the development of manufacturing proposals using Manufacturing processes, provide manufacturing guidance and support to Program and Contracts during negotiations.
  • Participate in bid and proposal activities for manufacturing using perimetric bid approach justifying base off actuals of similar projects with complexity factors. In this role all bids will have clear scope and consistent assumptions.
  • Prepare planning documents and lead project execution of GDLS-C manufacturing managing scope, cost, and schedule using existing departmental procedures and guidance documents.
  • Manage cost and schedule performance of GDLS-C manufacturing efforts using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) practices, highlighting areas of concern and taking corrective action where required.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Management and Engineering to develop material availability mitigation plans when necessary.
  • Lead resolution of day-to-day issues and provide guidance to the applicable manufacturing teams.
  • Support Control Account Managers (CAM) during project status by responding to general status inquiries and support risk mitigation strategies.
  • Processing of Baseline Change Requests (BCR) based on cost & schedule inputs from Project Engineering.
  • Support workload/resource assessments to identify opportunities for manufacturing collaboration on resource reallocation.
  • Lead production readiness activities for new variant launches
  • Maintain and lead all action logs to include mitigation plans for areas of risk in the build process. Ensure mitigation plans are implementing into the TDP and work instructions as applicable.
  • Coordinate schedule alignment between Engineering, SCM and Production.

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree/College Diploma in a technical discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing discipline
  • MS Office Excel experience (Intermediate level - including macros)
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Customer and detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to plan, analyze and solve complex problems
  • Self-motivated and effective in a multi-disciplinary team, including to facilitate discussions
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations
  • Demonstrated strong analytical & decision making skills
  • Ability to travel(5% Cdn) and (5% US & Int'l) and possess / able to acquire and maintain a valid passport

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years relevant experience in the project management field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation
  • Experience in Earned Value Management principles
  • Canada
