A non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and other varying abilities to live fulfilled and participatory lives in their communities.
Position Summary
The Inclusive Living Supervisor plays a key leadership role in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that enhances the well-being of the individuals we serve. Reporting to the Inclusive Living Manager, the Supervisor coordinates and optimizes service delivery within Inclusive Living programs while ensuring effective staffing, regulatory compliance, and high-quality care.
This role includes oversight of direct support staff, program operations, financial stewardship, and compliance with legislation, funder requirements, and organizational policies. The Supervisor models and reinforces organization's Vision, Mission, Values, and standards of support at all times.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Operations
- Collaborate with the Inclusive Living Manager to develop and implement program standards addressing psychosocial, cultural, physical, and safety needs.
- Oversee implementation of individualized support plans, behavioural protocols, and daily support guides.
- Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, legislation, and Ministry standards.
- Monitor and support medical care, skill development, behavioural interventions, and overall quality of care.
- Provide direct support to front-line staff when required, including emergency coverage.
- Analyze program data and generate monthly reports.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as required.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with families, community partners, and service providers.
- Participate in committees and project work.
Financial Management
- Manage program budgets and assigned cost centres.
- Review and approve timesheets, mileage claims, expense reports, petty cash, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Complete monthly petty cash reconciliation.
- Oversee resident finances ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders to identify and budget for program needs.
Staffing, Training & Development
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for direct support staff.
- Support onboarding and training of new employees.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate staff performance.
- Conduct monthly 1:1 meetings and annual performance appraisals.
- Address performance concerns and initiate progressive discipline in collaboration with HR.
- Promote strong team culture through effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Ensure staff complete mandatory training requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and grievance procedures.
Program Administration
- Collaborate with scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing ratios.
- Conduct unannounced monthly site visits across all shifts (days, evenings, weekends, overnight).
- Ensure documentation meets Ministry and compliance standards.
- Act as liaison with families regarding service changes and supports.
- Escalate serious occurrences and reputational risks appropriately.
- Coordinate and chair meetings as required.
- Work onsite in Inclusive Living locations at least 80% of the time.
Qualifications & Experience
- Current Criminal Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field
- 3–5 years of direct care experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities (including autism spectrum)
- Experience implementing behavioural protocols and treatment plans preferred
- Previous supervisory experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of medical needs (e.g., ostomy care, feeding tubes)
- Working knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Training in CPI (Crisis Prevention), Conflict Management, Trauma Counselling, or Case Management considered an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other database/reporting software
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle (asset)
Working Conditions
- 37.5-hour work week (150 hours over 4 weeks)
- Emergency on-call weekend rotation
- On-call availability Monday–Friday (9:00am–5:00pm)
- Flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight
- Moderate to fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities
- Extensive computer and telephone use
- Travel between program locations required
- Occasional physical duties (e.g., grocery shopping, emergency frontline support)
