YOUR MANDATE

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and performance of all manufacturing and material-handling equipment across 3 sites in Canada and one in Buffalo, NY. The equipment includes balers, forklifts, shredders, skid steers, conveyors, and associated processing equipment. This role ensures that equipment is maintained to maximize uptime, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness while supporting operational and production goals. The position will lead preventative maintenance programs, coordinate repairs, manage spare parts inventory, and work closely with site operations teams, vendors, and contractors to troubleshoot issues and implement long-term equipment solutions. The role also plays a key part in capital projects, equipment installations, and relocations, ensuring machinery is properly set up, commissioned, and integrated into site operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the General Manager, the incumbent of the role will ensure the efficiency and the productivity of the operations of the plant.

More specifically:

• Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for all equipment
• Oversee repairs and emergency maintenance response
• Manage vendor relationships and contractor's work
• Maintain spare parts inventory and budgeting
• Support equipment installation, relocation, and commissioning
• Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements
• Support the implementation of Sustana continuous improvement program (CI).
• Train site staff on basic maintenance and equipment best practices
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
• Implement, improve and maintain system machine safety.
• Act as the point of contact for resolving operational issues and coordinating with upper management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field is required
• Minimum of 10 years of previous experience in maintenance supervisory or management position
• Strong technical knowledge of maintenance operations and preventive measures (electrical and mechanical)
• Proven leadership, communication, and team development skills
• Proficiency with business reporting tools
• Proficiency in interpreting production data and implementing process improvements.
• Strong commitment & knowledge concerning health and safety standards particularly concerning machine safety.

OTHER INFORMATION

The Maintenance Manager will primarily work at one location but may require site visits to various locations on average 50% of the time. These sites are located in Canada and in Buffalo,NY.
