Job Overview:
The Concrete Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional concrete projects. This role works closely with project managers, operations teams, and clients to analyze drawings, develop detailed take-offs, and support successful project execution from tender through award. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of concrete construction methods, local market conditions, and pricing within the Edmonton and surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Perform quantity take-offs for concrete placement, formwork, reinforcement, cutting/coring, demolition, and related scopes.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Identify risks, constructability concerns, and cost-saving opportunities during the estimating phase.
  • Coordinate with operations, project management, and field teams to ensure accurate rates and budgets.
  • Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client walkthroughs as required.
  • Maintain organized bid files and estimating databases for future reference.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, scope clarifications, and tender submissions.
  • Support handover meetings to operations teams upon project award.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with estimating and take-off software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and tender documents with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong understanding of concrete forming, placing, finishing, reinforcement, cutting/coring, and demolition practices.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact with customers and all levels of staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
