About the Role
The senior accountant plays a key role in managing Aquatera's daily accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis. This position supports the preparation of financial statements, internal and external audits, budgeting, forecasting, and the monitoring of internal controls. The senior accountant is a trusted resource for internal stakeholders and contributes significantly to accurate financial reporting and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, reconcile, and analyze balance sheet accounts using continuity schedules, investigating and resolving variances.
Process financial transactions and support timely month-end closing activities while ensuring they comply with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
Analyze inventory balances and costing, ensuring accurate assignment and valuation of purchase costs.
Assist in preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support the annual budgeting process, including consolidating and review of departmental budget submissions.
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and assisting with the implementation of audit recommendations.
Assist with capital asset accounting, including tracking, reconciliation and reporting.
Assist with corporate modelling and long-term forecasting initiatives.
Perform ad hoc financial analysis for both internal and external stakeholders
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Required Skills
Legally entitled to work in Canada without limitations.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
Professional accounting designation (CPA – Canada).
Minimum of four years of experience in finance and accounting.
Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word), with experience in Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Effective time management, organization, and task prioritization skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across business units.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Demonstrated adherence to company policies, procedures, and corporate values.
Excellent communication and professionalism.
