Term: Full-Time, Permanent

Compensation: $75, $95,000.00 annually

K'en T'em Limited Partnership (KTLP) is a for-profit corporation committed to providing the Nlaka'pamux people of the eight Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly (CNA) Participating Bands with the resources that will help them efficiently create, manage and operate business opportunities. The Financial Analyst supports financial operations across CNA, KTLP, Cantex Mining Services, and affiliated entities. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for supporting financial reporting, accounting processes, compliance, and operational finance functions. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

Primary Duties

General Overview

  • Support day-to-day accounting and financial operations across multiple business entities,
  • Prepare and review financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation,
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis,
  • Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and regulatory requirements,
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and financial controls,
  • Support audit preparation and external reporting requirements,
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to provide financial insights and analysis,
  • Utilize accounting and reporting software to enhance accuracy and efficiency, including emerging AI reporting tools, and
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including variance analyses against budgets and forecasts,
  • Analyze revenue streams by program or department and ensure costs allocated appropriately,
  • Monitor operating expenses against budget,

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Leads the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts,
  • Provide scenario modeling to support business planning, growth opportunities and acquisition decisions,
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities,

Operational Insights

  • Collaborate with department leads to provide financial guidance as needed,
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs),
  • Develop financial performance dashboards and scorecards for business leaders,

Strategic Initiatives

  • Conduct financial due diligence and analysis for potential acquisitions, partnerships, or new service lines,
  • Provide recommendations on capital investments,
  • Support the development of business cases for expansion opportunities,

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure financial practices comply with privacy standards and internal policies, and
  • Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards,
  • Proficiency with Sage 50, Explorer, MS Excel, Deltek, and other financial reporting systems,
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail,
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adhere strictly to reporting timelines,
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism, and
  • Willingness to learn nłeʔkepmx cultural values and protocols while recognizing and respecting cultural diversity.

Experience and Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience,
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field,
  • CPA designation or ability to obtain is considered a strong asset,
  • Experience working in multi-entity or Indigenous-led organizations is an asset,
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and access to reliable transportation,
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Merritt, BC as required, and
  • Criminal Record Check may be required.

Work Environment

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm less one half-hour paid lunch, with regular fluctuation when needed. On average, 40 hours per week.
  • Remote work may be considered; preference will be given to candidates located within the Interior of British Columbia, otherwise travel to Merritt, BC required as needed,
  • Flexibility in working hours may be available for remote work locations; however, reporting deadlines must be strictly adhered to,
  • Must be generally available during regular business hours to respond to operational and financial inquiries,
  • Overtime: All daily overtime over 8 hours will be banked at 1.5x, all hours over 12 will be banked at 2x,
  • Reporting Office Location: Office work will be conducted from the K'en T'em office at 1355 Nicola Ave, Merritt BC, with the expectation of field work as needed, OR Office work will be conducted from the K'en T'em office at 2025 Granite Ave, Merritt BC,
  • Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation (10 working days), accrued at 0.84 per month,
  • Winter Break: 2 weeks paid (max 10 working days),
  • Benefits: 50% benefit premiums paid by employer,
  • Pension: Pension matching (percentage increasing with years of service), and
  • Personal and Professional Development: As part of total compensation, we supply full-time permanent employees with the means to advance their skills and education.
