CULTIVATION TEAM SUPERVISOR

We are currently looking for Cultivation Team Supervisor for supervising our production team in the growing process including the selection and development of genetic strains and seeds, cloning, potting and transplanting, designing and maintaining nutrient regiments, feeding plants, defoliation, topping, flushing, foliar and preventative sprays, trimming, harvesting, drying and waste disposal.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head Grower your work will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Assist in all the tasks in the growing process including seeding, cloning, pruning, transplanting, nutrient management, pest management, defoliation, topping, flushing, foliar, waste disposal, etc.
  • Assist in overall plant health and crop yield
  • Organize and document the daily process of plant life cycle ie. transplanting, cloning, defoliation and trimming of plants etc.
  • Develop and/or maintain protocols for lighting, temperature and humidity manipulation
  • Develop and/or maintain facility protocol and nutrient regiment
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and elimination of all types of mold, powdery mildew, spider, mites, root, aphids, fungus gnats, etc. in a pesticide free environment
  • Supervise daily scouting activities to identify the various types of crop insect pests, plant viruses, plant deficiencies, excesses and plant disease pests that may be present in the crop.
  • Ensure all beneficial biologicals are introduced effectively and according to plan.
  • Provide daily and weekly IPM related information to the Head Grower
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly employee task summary
  • Place weekly orders of biologicals and ensure proper storage of items as needed.
  • Supervising the preparation and application of natural pest control products including spraying of plants if needed.
  • Supervise IPM Tasks
  • Responsible for making sure production targets, goals, demands are met
  • Adhere to all Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • All safety and PPE requirements being followed
  • Keep updated Ample Organic Inventory System and maintain or equivalent
  • Supervising pheno monitoring and data input
  • Inspect quality of harvest
  • Shared role with post production supervisor, assisting when needed
  • Responsible for making sure production targets, goals, demands are met
  • Provide a weekly crop status summary
  • Supervise and mentor employees in cultivation and sanitation
  • Responsible for team members performance review and coaching
  • Train employees in IPM
  • Making sure that inside rooms, equipment's, and tools are clean and sanitized
  • Assist the Head Grower in forecasting the harvesting and planting time
  • Assist the Head Grower in ensuring timelines and forecasts are being met
  • Maintain concise daily records and ensure documentation is accessible and organized in a compliant manner with Health Canada Regulations and GMP regulations
  • Working safely by exercising due diligence and reporting any hazard to the Head Grower
  • Other duties as assigned by the company

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture or equivalent commercial growing experience would be preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a supervisory role in a production facility
  • Have deep knowledge of soil/ soil less growing methods, micronutrients, beneficial bacteria, and nutrient implementation.
  • Experience and technical knowledge in product moisture level controls during production, curing, and packaging states of medical marijuana products.
  • Knowledge of GMP and GPP is an asset

  • Strong understanding of genetics and plant care

  • Ability to act independently and as a team member
  • Understanding of biotechnology, molecular biology and genomics is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with large scale commercial plant cultivation
  • Extensive experience in propagation
  • Experience with automated environmental control software
  • Health Canada Security Clearance
  • Attention to detail and accuracy including thorough documentation abilities
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to prioritize activities and adjust priorities on short notice
  • Excellent comprehension, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Decision-making ability

  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Job requires lifting, squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching and standing for extended hours

Status and Hours: Permanent, 40hrs per week
