The CRE will work with campus partners (e.g: the Office of Student Life, Athletics and Recreation, The Health and Wellness Centre, Mulitfaith, International Student Services etc) and community organizations to deliver programs and connect residents with on-campus opportunities. This position will assist with both in-person and online transition initiatives in Residence. As a part of their educational initiatives porfolio this position will also develop and implement Community Service Learning (CSL) opportunities for residents with the help of student leaders.
This position is responsible for the supervision of student leaders working on department engagement initiatives, transition activities, or residence council. The CRE provides direction to the Residence Education Community Leaders and Senior Community Leaders, specifically with regards to implementation of the LLC curriculum and other educational programming. This position may also supervise co-op and work study students as required.
The CRE will be required to work some evenings and weekends at peak periods.
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree plus 3 years of experience in program development, implementation and event planning for students in a higher educational or similar environment, or some equivalent.
Knowledge Requirements Include
Demonstrated experience with program coordination, implementation, assessment and administrative experience particularly in higher education and residence programs.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of student development theory and community service learning frameworks.
Experience creating and monitoring budgets.
Proficiency with basic computer programs and systems (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point, etc)
Knowledge and ability to work effectively with student volunteers and staff and to provide coaching, leadership and support to undergraduate students.
Competency Requirements Include
Proven leadership skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal, time management, communication (both written and oral) and organizational skills are required.
Ability to take initiative, be creative and gain consensus and work with people representing varying interests and diverse identities.
Ability to plan and achieve both short and long-term goals driven by the overall goals of the Residence Life and Education department.
Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively with multiple departments, organizations, and individuals in a complex environment.
Assets Or Preferences
Supervisory experience is considered an asset.
Valid class 5 driver's license is considered an asset.
Ability to work evenings and weekend as required.
