Job Description
Are you driven by improving equipment performance, optimizing maintenance strategies, and leading meaningful technical projects? Join our team as a Reliability Technician, where you'll play a vital role in keeping our operations running safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
In this role, you'll support all three of our sites by inspecting, servicing, cleaning, troubleshooting, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of equipment and systems. You'll use your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure equipment reliability - protecting the safety of our teams, the quality of our products, and the efficiency of our operations.
Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
Lead and execute preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities across assigned equipment and systems.
Provide daily progress updates and issue reporting to management.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, identifying and repairing defective components.
Adjust and calibrate functional parts, instruments, and controls to ensure optimal performance.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure the safe operation of equipment at all times, following established safety standards and protocols.
Identify regulatory gaps or risks and support corrective actions.
Parts & Resource Management
Forecast required parts, materials, and supplies.
Use maintenance resources responsibly to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime, reduce cost, boost efficiency, or enhance safety.
Support reliability-driven projects and process improvements.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare monitoring and analysis reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing equipment and system data.
Maintain clear, accurate documentation on all maintenance activities.
Qualifications
Applicable trade qualification, such as Millwright, Electrician, HVAC, Electrical Technician, or Technologist.
3–5 years of hands-on experience in a heavy industrial environment.
Certified or qualified to repair equipment and systems within the assigned area. Certification may come from a recognized institution or manufacturer-approved training.
Strong knowledge of equipment/system setup techniques and reliability principles.
Proven experience calibrating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing mechanical and electrical systems.
Able to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics, blueprints, and operation manuals.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
