The Opportunity
Reporting to the Facilities and Operations Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and implementation of a variety of programs and services within the Recreation Division. Overall responsibilities encompass facility management, staff supervision, customer service and coordination of other physical and personnel resources as required.
Accountabilities
Supervise, monitor and evaluate performance and activities of personnel working in assigned program areas.
Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and the tracking, monitoring and approval of expenditures and revenues.
Assist with tasks and responsibilities associated with facility management including supervision, programming, booking and financial controls.
Ensure all facility safety standards and OHS policies and procedures are applied and enforced.
Perform other administrative and supervisory functions as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
Graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Business or related discipline.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in program and recreation facility operations, at least three (3) of which must be in a supervisory capacity.
Other
Must have excellent oral, written and communication skills, strong analytical and organizations skills.
Must have the ability to deal with the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner.
A valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle is required (Proof of Business Insurance must be submitted upon hire).

Physical Requirements
This position is classified as safety sensitive. The City of St. John's has a comprehensive Alcohol and Drug Policy to ensure fitness for work and the completion of a satisfactory alcohol and drug test is a mandatory pre-employment requirement.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 4:30 PM
The duties of this position require on call rotational work which includes availability outside of regular business hours. Applicants must also have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required to support the Department's programs and services.
