Job Title: Global Strategic Technical Buyer - Construction Materials
We are seeking a mid-senior to senior-level, motivated professional to lead the global sourcing of construction materials and technically complex components for a new division. Position Summary
The Strategic Technical Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers for technically complex components and manufactured goods. This role combines strategic procurement planning with strong technical understanding to ensure cost optimization, quality compliance, supply continuity, and long-term supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for technical commodities (e.g., metal extrusions, glass, fabricated parts, hardware, engineered components).
Lead RFQs, supplier evaluations, cost analysis, and contract negotiations.
Identify cost reduction opportunities through value engineering and global sourcing.
Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) and market trends.
Technical Collaboration
Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to review drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and technical feasibility.
Support product development by sourcing new materials and components.
Participate in design-for-cost and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.
Supplier Management
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews (quality, delivery, cost).
Manage risk mitigation strategies (dual sourcing, inventory planning, etc.).
Cost & Contract Management
Negotiate pricing agreements, long-term contracts, and supply terms.
Monitor raw material indices LME (e.g., aluminum, steel) and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
5+ years of experience in technical or strategic purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of technical drawings and manufacturing processes (extrusion, fabrication, machining, injection molding, etc.).
Experience negotiating international contracts.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Bilingual (French and English)
