THE ROLE
The Specialty Instructor (Skating) designs and develops skating program syllabus/content and lesson plans, as well as plans, organizes and prepares skating activities within the guidelines of a recognized certifying organization.
The Specialty Instructor (Skating) will instruct and lead skating classes for different ages and ability levels, while ensuring safety for participants and providing emergency or first aid assistance as required, reporting incidents and taking corrective action where required. The Specialty Instructor (Skating) will set up and take down necessary equipment for each class.
The Specialty Instructor (Skating) will be responsible for the administration of the skating program, including registration of participants, collecting fees, monitoring & recording attendance, preparing distributing and submitting evaluation forms for all class participants.
Qualifications Needed
Education, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND some years experience conducting classes
AND
Current applicable speciality certification(s) by a provincial or nationally recognized certifying organization
Current CPR And Standard First Aid Qualifications
Current Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Operator Certificate
HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification and Quest 2 certification, HIGH FIVE, as required
Experience
In planning, organizing, and delivering skating classes
In monitoring and controlling large groups of participants
In ensuring safety protocols and procedures
In providing customer service
Knowledge
Of instructional techniques
Of group dynamics
Of health and safety practices
Of injury prevention
Competencies
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
Language Requirements
English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset

Other Information
This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.
