Responsibilities: We are seeking a proactive and skilled
Senior Data Engineer
to develop reliable and governed data products that transform into actionable insights supporting underwriting, claims, product development, distribution, and operations. You will work closely with business leaders to convert inquiries into well-structured datasets, insightful Power BI models, and meaningful narratives that drive decisions. You should be comfortable navigating both data engineering and engaging with business stakeholders to comprehend their processes and needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Underwriting, Product, Claims, Finance, and Distribution/Operations, to translate business questions into defined requirements and data solutions. Design and publish curated datasets and semantic models in Power BI, illuminating metrics relevant to small commercial operations. Proactively expand your business knowledge and deliver automated analytic solutions to address business challenges. Create and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines and lakehouse architectures within Microsoft Fabric, adhering to platform standards for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Implement data governance and quality controls while adhering to documentation standards across datasets. Utilize Azure DevOps (ADO) for CI/CD and version control practices to enhance the delivery process and ensure repeatability. Document technical architecture and workflows with clarity to aid in onboarding and minimize operational risks. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. 5-10 years of experience in data engineering or a related role within the Property & Casualty insurance sector. Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric is a significant advantage. Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) and CI/CD methodologies. Strong skills in SQL, Python, and data modeling. Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Azure. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Preferred Skills: Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Databricks. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Scala. Understanding of data security and compliance requirements. *Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship* Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000. The annual base salary range is subject to various factors, including credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills, and training. The successful candidate is expected to work in our Wilkes-Barre, PA office 3 days per week and may need to travel occasionally.
