Senior DevOps Engineer
to lead AI and Cloud Transformation efforts for the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO). In this pivotal role, you will design, implement, and operationalize HUD's DevOps platform and cloud-native capabilities. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting AI/ML modernization initiatives by establishing automated pipelines, containerized microservices, data pipelines, and robust cloud infrastructure. Collaborative teamwork with HUD’s infrastructure, operations, and AI/ML teams will be essential in ensuring scalable and production-ready solutions. This is a fully remote position that supports a federal government contract requiring a background check and NACI clearance. All candidates must reside within the United States. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps for software development and DevOps initiatives. Establish and manage automated workflows for building, testing, and deployment processes. Configure and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) to support the development of new capabilities. Develop and manage microservices, containerization solutions, and declarative APIs. Implement data pipelines (Apache Kafka) and automated data validation routines. Support the evolution of architectures, technology stacks, coding standards, version control strategies, software integration points, and milestone plans. Embed security into DevOps workflows in collaboration with the Senior Security Engineer. Document processes, configuration management, and privacy/security compliance activities. Participate in AI/ML proofs of concept and scale successful pilots into enterprise-ready systems. Requirements Required Experience and Skills 7+ years of DevOps engineering experience focused on CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and automation. 5+ years supporting federal IT modernization projects is preferred. Experience in developing AI/ML solutions and scaling POCs into production systems. Expertise in microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and API design. Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform). Knowledge of federal security and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST RMF, OMB M-Memos). Experience in regulated/federal environments is a plus. Prior exposure to supporting HUD OCIO is highly desirable. Ability to pass required Federal background screening and maintain government clearance. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship. Technical Skills Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps Pipelines Containerization/Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes Infrastructure as Code: Ansible, Terraform Data Pipelines & Automation: Apache Kafka, Python/Bash scripting Agile project management tools: Jira, Confluence Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and AI/ML lifecycle support. Core Competencies Strong collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary federal teams. Effective risk management and compliance adherence. Proficient problem-solving for scalable AI/ML solutions. Commitment to continuous improvement of DevOps processes. Expertise in documentation and knowledge transfer. Education and Certifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. Master's degree in a related field is preferred. Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert is required. Certifications in Kubernetes or Docker are preferred. CI/CD pipeline automation certifications (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps) are preferred. Physical Requirements Candidates must reside in the United States.
