We are looking for a data scientist to join our Business Data Science team. In this dynamic role, you will harness the power of data to fuel the growth and success of the Slack Business Unit. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, can operate autonomously, embraces a growth mindset, collaborates well with others, and prioritizes impactful action. The Business Data Science team plays a critical role in guiding executives and decision-makers company-wide in making data-driven decisions. You will cooperate closely with Data Engineering, Product Analysts, fellow Data Scientists at Slack, and the Product and Engineering teams to identify growth avenues, develop insightful narratives about our business, forecast performance, and build predictive models that drive positive outcomes. Responsibilities: Collaborate with Slack Growth teams to analyze business drivers and boost growth. Create both short-term and long-term forecasting models for Slack's self-serve business segment. Conduct in-depth analyses and distill insights into concise narratives for senior leadership. Establish frameworks to identify customer behavior patterns/trends and integrate them into predictive scoring models. Enable teams to be self-sufficient with data by developing self-service tools and reports that raise awareness of key metrics. Partner with Data Engineering and Product Analysts to develop core data models that support operational metrics and facilitate exploratory data analyses. Qualifications: 6+ years of experience in quantitative analysis within a professional setting. Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language for data analysis (e.g., Python, R). Familiarity with time series forecasting and experience applying statistical and machine learning techniques to build descriptive and predictive models. A relevant technical degree is required. Preferred Experience: Experience collaborating with finance or business teams on revenue forecasting. Strong understanding of premium and self-serve business models. Ability to apply analytics to uncover potential growth opportunities. Skill in crafting engaging narratives for an executive audience. Advanced degree in Economics, Physics, Statistics, Math, or related quantitative field (PhDs are a plus). In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City areas, the base salary range is $200,800 - $276,100 annually. This range refers only to the base salary and does not include potential bonuses, equity, or benefits where applicable.
