Purpose of the Job:
The primary function of the Engineer in Controls and Automation is to provide technical support of facility Operational Technology (OT) systems, equipment, and automation or controls projects at JHS-Kirkland. The position may participate directly or provide oversight of controls engineers or controls technicians on project teams which are responsible for the design, acquisition, installation, and/or upgrade of critical systems and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The initial assignment is to support flawless integration of the automated equipment of the new filling line 5. This includes manufacturing equipment, building management systems and utilities. The Controls Engineer assumes responsibility for participation and leadership in capital and expense projects involving controls in facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, and/or compliance.
Responsibilities:
Manages and/or participates in major capital and expense facility projects in a manner that is compliant with the "Project Management Guidelines" system. This system includes methods for scheduling, budgeting, meeting management, teamwork, communication, and documentation of a multi-departmental project team.
Provides technical support of OT Automation and Controls projects including facility and utility expansion, compliance upgrades, cost reduction, construction projects, etc.
Provides overall technical assistance for JHS-Montréal OT equipment controls systems.
Participates in support, guidance, and training for Maintenance controls technicians to include controls system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs.
Provides controls engineering support and guidance for production team to include recipe creation and maintenance, and support of related capital projects.
Responsible for acquiring and maintaining knowledge of regulatory requirements for the facility and processes to ensure compliance to federal and international regulatory agencies.
Participates in the compliance to both short-term and long-term company objectives as defined by upper management.
Development of detailed specifications and RFQs to be used by A&E firms, contractors or equipment manufactures to accurately quote on projects being pursued by the company.
Responsible for developing and using systems of engineering documentation required by regulatory agencies and in compliance with generally accepted engineering guidelines, SOPs, or quality standards. It includes but not limited to the production and execution of commissioning and IOQ protocols.
Education & Experience:
Education Qualification (Highest):
BSc in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical), Master's degree (an asset) Major : automation, electrical, programming, controls.
Certifications desired: Rockwell Logix Programmer, Professionnel Engineer (P.Eng.) member of ''Ordre des ingénieur du Québec'' (OIQ)
Experience Required:
5-7 years of OT Controls systems
Experience in a Pharmaceutical or other Regulated Industry
Allen-Bradley Controls system Hardware; PLC, PanelView HMIs and Servo Drives.
Allen-Bradley Controls Software: RSLogix, FactoryTalk Studio, Wonderware Intouch, InSQL Historian, Archestra IDE and DA Servers.
GE Proficy software packages; Fix32, iFix, and Proficy Historian TCP/IP Networking
B&R industrial PC
AVEVA PI system,
Microsoft SQL Server
Skills Required:

Able communicate fluently in English and French.
Salary ranges from $65,524 to $109,207 depending on education level and years of experience.
