Contract
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior OpenShift Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise Kubernetes/OpenShift platform engineering. This contractor will play a key role in scaling, securing, and optimizing our OpenShift environment to support business critical applications.
Key Accountabilities
• Design, implement, upgrade, and maintain highly available OpenShift clusters (multi cluster, multi AZ, on prem)
• Build and standardize best practice patterns for application onboarding, containerization, and deployment on OpenShift
• Develop, maintain, and harden certified container base images
• Partner with application and architecture teams to guide design decisions for container native workloads
• Define and implement operational runbooks, monitoring, logging, and alerting for platform reliability
• Manage and optimize enterprise container registries, image lifecycle, and image scanning workflows
• Develop automation for cluster operations (installation, patching, upgrades, scaling)
• Lead platform security implementation: SCC/PSP equivalents, RBAC, IAM integration, registry security, TLS/cert management
• Integrate DevSecOps tooling, automated governance, and supply chain security into CI/CD workflows
• Educate and mentor teams on container practices, OpenShift usage, cloud native architecture, and DevOps tools
• Provide L3 escalation support for complex platform, networking, and application deployment issues
Advanced Technical Skills
• Deep expertise with OpenShift 4.x features, including Operators, MachineConfigs, OVN Kubernetes CNI, and cluster autoscaling, security, networking, RBAC, monitoring, and cluster services
• Kubernetes mastery (API, controllers, CRDs, networking, storage classes, multi cluster management)
• Strong understanding of OpenShift networking (Service Mesh, Routes/Ingress, OVN/Kubernetes CNI, NetworkPolicies)
• Experience with Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) and multi cluster governance
• CI/CD pipeline expertise (ArgoCD, ADO, Jira, Artifactory, Ansible, Github Actions)
• Strong DevSecOps experience: image signing, image scanning, supply chain security, secrets management
• Security-first mindset: SCCs, RBAC, IAM/OAuth integration, TLS/certificate management
• Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps)
• Strong Linux (RHEL) engineering background, system troubleshooting, OS patching, and performance tuning
• Scripting proficiency (Shell, Python, PowerShell)
• Understanding of virtualization and VM sizing considerations for OpenShift deployments

Qualifications
• 7+ years hands on experience with enterprise Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift (on prem or cloud)
• 10+ years with Linux/Unix administration and performance tuning
• Strong expertise with container technologies (Docker, Podman, CRI O)
• Demonstrated experience automating platform operations and driving CI/CD maturity
• Experience implementing IAC frameworks and GitOps workflows
• Strong documentation and communication skills
