Responsibilities:
Data Architecture & Modeling
Analyze business and technical requirements to design scalable, efficient data architectures
Build logical and physical data models using industry-standard tools such as Erwin (or equivalent)
Design high-quality Entity Relationship (ER) diagrams following best practices in normalization, naming conventions, metadata, and data governance
Reverse engineer existing databases and schemas into ERDs, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and clarity
Manage schema lifecycle and change control, including versioning, impact assessment, and controlled deployment across environments
Translate source system structures into consolidated, analytics-ready data models for data warehouses and marts
Data Engineering & ETL/ELT Development
Design and build end-to-end data pipelines using both low-code/no-code and code-based tools, including SSIS, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Alteryx, Power Automate, and related technologies
Develop and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows across diverse data sources
Implement ETL/ELT best practices to ensure reliability, accuracy, scalability, and performance
Support the creation of data warehouses, data marts, and reusable data assets for analytics, reporting, and visualization
Troubleshoot pipeline, performance, and data quality issues with a hands-on, solution-focused approach
Database Platforms
Work with and design solutions across multiple database platforms, including:
SQL Server
Databricks
MySQL
PostgreSQL
(Additional cloud or on-premise data platforms are considered assets)
Client & Project Delivery
Facilitate requirement gathering sessions with clients to understand business needs and data-related challenges
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences
Contribute to solution design, architecture documentation, project plans, and technical deliverables
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure solution alignment with client objectives
Support delivery of high-quality consulting engagements with a focus on value, clarity, and outcomes
Qualifications:
Technical Qualifications
5-7 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data architecture, or combined roles
Strong, hands-on experience with data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin) and ERD best practices
Demonstrated capability to reverse-engineer, deploy, and manage schema changes across environments
Advanced experience with SQL and SQL scripting across multiple RDBMS platforms
Proven ability to design and build ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as SSIS, ADF, Alteryx, Power Automate, or similar
Experience converting OLTP systems into OLAP data warehouses and data marts
Knowledge of BI/reporting tools, visualization platforms, and their data consumption patterns (asset)
Consulting & Professional Services Experience
Candidates with consulting experience will be given strong preference
Experience delivering technology or data projects in a client-facing consulting environment
Ability to manage stakeholder relationships, clarify complex requirements, and facilitate discussions between business and technical teams
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to structure ambiguous challenges into actionable solution paths
Comfortable preparing and delivering presentations, architectural artifacts, and recommendations to clients and executive audiences
Experience supporting project scoping, estimation, and proposal development (asset)

Compensation:
Salary Range: $110,000-$160,000 annually (subject to negotiation and subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements)
