We are seeking a skilled Material Handler to join our growing logistics operation in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials within our warehouse facility. This includes operating forklifts and other machinery to load, unload, transport, and stage goods. Your role is critical in ensuring the smooth flow of inventory and supporting production and shipping schedules. The ideal candidate will possess a strong safety focus, excellent operational skills, and a dedication to maintaining an organized workspace. We value efficiency and teamwork in our logistics department.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) safely and efficiently to move materials.
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and other transport vehicles.
- Stage materials for production, shipping, or receiving areas.
- Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist with inventory management, including counting and locating materials.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, adhering to all housekeeping standards.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies, including the correct use of PPE.
- Support shipping and receiving functions as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or Forklift Operator with a valid certification.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and material handling equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.
- Strong attention to detail and good spatial awareness.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for all.
- Reliable and able to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
