We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dentist to provide comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, and restorative oral health services to infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special health care needs in a mission driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role offers a unique opportunity to deliver much-needed pediatric dental care to underserved children in a modern, beautifully designed dental office while earning a highly competitive compensation package. The position emphasizes prevention, patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and compliance with New York State DDS licensure requirements, while allowing the provider to make a meaningful and lasting impact on community health.
*Essential Job Duties*
Perform pediatric dental procedures within New York State scope of practice, including but not limited to:
· Restorative procedures (fillings, crowns, space maintainers)
· Extractions and minor oral surgical procedures
· Pulp therapy and emergency dental care
· Behavior guidance and pain/anxiety management within permitted standards
· Conduct comprehensive dental examinations and risk assessments for pediatric patients
· Diagnose oral diseases, dental trauma, developmental abnormalities, and special care needs
· Interpret dental x-rays, diagnostic tests, and clinical findings
· Monitor growth and development of teeth, jaws, and craniofacial structures
· Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
· Provide preventive services such as fluoride applications and sealants
· Deliver care to patients with special health care needs using appropriate clinical and behavioral techniques
· Educate children, parents, and caregivers on oral hygiene, nutrition, caries prevention, and home care
· Promote age-appropriate preventive strategies and anticipatory guidance
· Communicate treatment options, risks, benefits, and post-treatment instructions clearly
· Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic dental records
· Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control standards, and NYS regulations
· Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and risk management initiatives
· Meet all organizational mandatory training and continuing education requirements
· Work collaboratively with dental hygienists, dental assistants, behavioral health staff, and primary care teams
· Coordinate care with Pediatric Dental Director to implement best practices
· Manage appointment schedules and treatment plans to optimize patient access and continuity of care
· Contribute to program development, clinical protocols, and staff mentoring when appropriate
· Upholds ethical standards and legal scope of pediatric dental practice
· Supports the mission, values, and community health goals of DFCC’s.
· Maintains punctuality, attendance, professional attire, and adherence to organizational policies
*Non-Essential Job Duties*
· Provide cross-coverage or assistance in other clinical or administrative areas during emergencies
· Participate in community outreach, health promotion events, or special projects
· Support training or mentoring activities for students or new staff
· Perform additional related duties as assigned
*Qualifications & Skills*
· Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited institution
· Maintain Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Dentistry
· Current New York State license and registration to practice dentistry
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
· Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric dental procedures and child-centered care
· Proficiency in electronic dental/medical record systems
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
· Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
· Experience serving diverse and underserved populations preferred

· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lean or reach during patient care
· Ability to lift or reposition equipment or supplies up to approximately 25 pounds
· Requires visual acuity and auditory ability sufficient for diagnosis, procedure performance, and patient communication
· Requires manual dexterity for precise dental procedures
· Frequent interaction with pediatric patients, including infants and children with anxiety or special health care needs
· Exposure to blood, saliva, aerosols, and clinical materials; adherence to PPE and infection control protocols required
Pay: $148,285.30 - $178,580.16 per year
