Our Grand Rapids, Michigan, logistics hub is seeking a diligent Shipping Clerk to manage our outbound operations. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for accurately preparing, documenting, and coordinating the shipment of goods to our customers. Your duties will include verifying order accuracy, packaging items securely, generating shipping labels, and coordinating with carriers to ensure timely deliveries. This role is crucial for maintaining customer satisfaction and the overall efficiency of our logistics processes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in using shipping software and equipment. A strong commitment to safety, including the proper use of PPE, is essential. While the role primarily involves administrative and coordination tasks, some lifting of packages up to 40 lbs may be necessary. Responsibilities:
- Verify order accuracy against shipping documents.
- Package products securely and appropriately for shipment.
- Generate shipping labels and maintain shipping records.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickups and deliveries.
- Track shipments and resolve any delivery issues.
- Operate shipping equipment such as scanners and pallet jacks.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and the correct use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers to ensure smooth logistics flow.
- Assist with inventory tasks as needed.
- Occasional lifting of packages up to 40 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software (e.g., UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager) and common carriers.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the use of PPE.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with WMS.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
