Becoming a CBPO Officer requires certain skills and qualifications. To be eligible for this position, you must have:
  1. a minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes detaining suspected violators of federal laws using proper methods.
  2. a master's degree or two years higher-level graduate education leading to such degree in fields like criminal justice or international relations; OR a combination of relevant work experience AND successfully completed graduate-level education.
