The Risk Engineering Platform team at Coinbase is pivotal in safeguarding our platform and our millions of users from fraud and financial risks. We develop flexible, scalable, and customizable systems for detecting and preventing fraud effectively while ensuring an optimal user experience. The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Risk Engineering team, you will be a technical leader overseeing significant projects. Your contributions will shape our systems for risk detection and mitigation, guiding projects from inception to production. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and set high technical standards that uplift the entire team. Your Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery:
Manage the delivery of end-to-end projects, including implementation and monitoring; author and review design documents for complex systems and features. System Architecture & Quality:
Improve code quality and address technical debt across the team's codebases; propose scalable solutions that enhance our capabilities. Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:
Mentor junior engineers, share your expertise, and guide best practices to improve overall team efficiency. Your Qualifications
5+ years of software engineering experience, delivering complex systems successfully. Strong leadership skills to mentor others and guide technical projects. Expertise in at least one frontend framework (React, TypeScript). Experience with building and scaling distributed systems. Solid understanding of system design and architecture patterns. Ability to thrive amid ambiguity and drive technical clarity. Preferred Skills
Experience in risk, fraud detection, or financial systems. Familiarity with machine learning models in production environments. Understanding of real-time event processing systems (e.g., Kafka). Knowledge of payment systems and associated fraud patterns. Experience with compliance and security requirements. Track record of enhancing team productivity through tools and processes. Technical Skills
Proficiency in React and TypeScript/JavaScript. Understanding modern frontend architectures and performance optimization. Experience with state management solutions and UI component design. Strong knowledge of web security best practices. Proven experience in building complex, data-rich user interfaces. The salary for this role ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 annually.
