We are seeking a high-impact Principal Analytics Engineer to serve as the architect and visionary for our data ecosystem. This is a "Player-Coach" role designed for a veteran who can bridge the gap between complex engineering (ETL/ELT, automation, cloud migrations) and executive-level business strategy. You won't just build dashboards; you will own the Data Product Roadmap from ingestion to insight.
What You Will Do
Architect the Modern Data Stack: Lead end-to-end migrations (e.g., to Databricks or Snowflake) and establish governance, security policies, and "Bronze/Silver/Gold" lakehouse architectures.
Build Mission-Critical Automation: Develop "scrappy" but robust in-house solutions (using Python, Playwright, or n8n) to solve data gaps when formal systems are missing or broken.
Data Product Ownership: Act as the "CEO of the Data," translating business needs from VPs and stakeholders into scalable relational models and high-fidelity Tableau/Looker narratives.
Lead by Example: Foster a culture of technical excellence. Whether acting as a formal manager or a technical lead, you will mentor others and define the standards for SQL optimization and query cost management.
Advanced Analytics: Integrate complex R-models or AI/LLM APIs into standard BI workflows to provide predictive insights that go beyond simple "rear-view mirror" reporting.
Required Qualifications
15+ Years of Experience: Proven track record at Tier-1 tech firms (Microsoft, Google, eBay) and high-stakes engineering environments (Aerospace/Utilities).
Mastery of the Cloud: Deep expertise in BigQuery, Databricks, AWS, or Redshift. You know how to optimize for performance and cost.
The "Generalist" Specialist: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and R, combined with expert-level Tableau/Looker storytelling.
Proven Reliability: Experience delivering results in high-pressure, "ground-up" scenarios (e.g., supporting a first-of-its-kind rocket launch or a massive enterprise migration).
Education: MS in Information Systems or a related technical field.
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.
Mandatory skills: Data Analysis, Python, Data Science, Microsoft Excel, Statistics
