We are currently seeking a Lead, Preparatory School Admission who will recruit, assess, enroll, and retain mission-appropriate students and families who will thrive as part of the UCC community. This role is designed to be highly collaborative with Prep School faculty, and teaching experience is required. This role also requires maintaining a strong connection between Admissions and the Prep School, a component of this role will include participation in co curriculars and/or special projects. This role will be reporting to the Vice-Principal, Enrolment Management. They will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Prep School (JK to Year 7) recruitment and admission process, ensuring a positive applicant experience and sound decision-making. They will act as an important ambassador for UCC, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Recruitment, Event Management, Outreach and MarketingBuilds and maintains relationships with sending schools, partnership programs, and associations;
Organizes and attends recruitment events (in person and online) with a particular focus on the Greater Toronto Area;
Supports organization, planning, and delivery of on-campus events;
Builds partnerships with local organizations to help attract qualified and diverse applicants and proactively cultivates these leads and partnerships with care;
Assists in the development and maintenance of admission print and electronic material, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications department;
Develops innovative ways to identify and recruit mission-aligned applicants, in collaboration with the Vice-Principal, Enrolment Management.
Collaborates with the Vice-Principal, Enrolment Management and the Director of Admission, Upper School and Boarding to identify and apply the latest admission evidence and best practices, ensuring appropriate alignment across the department;
Designs and leads the end-to-end admission process (cultivation, assessment, decision, feedback, and transition) for Prep School applicants (JK to Year 7) based on the latest evidence and best practices;
Selects and administers standardized testing, conducts candidate interviews, and evaluates reports in collaboration with the Admission Team;
Participates in the admission database set-up and organization, and uses the admission database effectively to ensure clean, usable data is available to support decision-making and an optimal user experience;
Collaborates with Prep Faculty and Administration to support their involvement in the admission processes, including but not limited to group activity dates, kindergarten assessments, and process refinement;
Collaborates with the Vice-Principal, Enrolment Management to set target enrolment projections based on applicant data;
Contributes, as requested, to the development of departmental enrolment, marketing, and financial assistance plans and strategy.
Meets and collaborates with teachers, counsellors, Wernham West Centre for Learning staff, and the Head and Assistant Heads of the Prep School to participate fully in the onboarding and class placement meetings for new students;
Prepares all new student files for class placement meetings, in collaboration with the Admission Team;
Serves as a main point of contact for new Prep School families;
Brings forward new initiatives to aid in the successful onboarding and transition of new students and families.
Collaborates with the Vice-Principal, Enrolment Management and the Director of Admission, Upper School and Boarding to enhance the approach to student retention through data gathering, analysis, and action planning.
Delivers outstanding customer service, ensuring that all prospective applicant families feel welcome and supported in their interactions with UCC;
Advances UCC's value of pluralism by ensuring a fair, equitable, and unbiased process and engaging in innovative community outreach;
Maintains the highest level of professional integrity;
Manages post-offer transitions for all applicant families with empathy and with an emphasis on relationship development.
Builds community through cultivating team trust and shared purpose;
Leads the Prep Senior Admission Counsellor(s) and any teachers involved in admission with enthusiasm and reflection, including providing training and professional development;
Offers and receives feedback to continuously improve the process and team culture;
Maintains effective and collaborative relationships with other roles and departments, including the Wernham West Centre for Learning, International Baccalaureate Coordinators, and the Head and Assistant Heads of the Prep School;
Acts as a mentor for an IB continuum project (PYP Exhibition, MYP Personal Project, or DP Extended Essay);
Takes on other duties as needed, at the direction of the Vice-Principal, Enrolment Management.

Actively participate in Prep co-curriculars and/or lead special projects as determined by the Prep Leadership Team.
Job Requirements
Experience, Knowledge and Competencies:
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field;
Experience in admission required;
Teaching experience at the primary years level is required;
English proficiency (written and spoken) is required and additional language(s) is an asset;
Knowledge of independent school admission functions, processes, and policies;
Expertise and training in childhood development and primary education;
Demonstrated experience in addressing structural and systemic bias that impact marginalized communities;
Adjusts own attitudes and beliefs because of working within and learning from the diversity of communities and cultures. Promotes others' engagement with diversity;
Understands issues relating to implicit bias, stereotype threat and institutionalized prejudice;
Articulates the influence of one's own assumptions, judgments and/or biases during interactions with one's own culture and the culture of others;
Event planning and coordination experience and knowledge;
Experience and knowledge in community organization and feeder school partnership development;
Understanding of various cultures and identities, particularly with respect to anti-bias efforts in education and assessment;
Extensive experience and knowledge of effective use of Blackbaud OnBoard platform or other similar admission database;
Experience with Google suite of tools;
Ability to conduct in-depth and detailed data analysis to inform nuanced decision-making in a competitive admission environment;
Ability to interpret complex information from a variety of sources;
Ability to apply admission processes and policies as well as identify and propose improvements to admission processes and policies;
Ability to develop solutions to problems and consider implications of different options;
Strong work ethic with the proven ability to meet deadlines and take initiative;
Ability to develop and execute a plan, while remaining flexible and creative;
Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity beyond reproach and to uphold confidentiality;

This job is for an existing vacancy. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience. The range for the position is $99,345 - $142,000.
