Position Overview
Tekberry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced
IT Project Manager
to support
University IT (UIT)
at one of the world's premier academic and research institutions. This role supports the
University IT Project Management Office (UIT PMO)
and is responsible for leading multiple large-scale, complex, cross-functional IT initiatives that impact research, teaching and learning, administration, and healthcare across the university.

This position reports to the
UIT PMO
and works alongside a team of technical project managers within multidisciplinary project teams delivering critical, university-wide technology initiatives.
Role Focus 80% Project Leadership & Delivery 20% Technical Contribution The Project Manager is expected to exercise
independent judgment , balance competing stakeholder priorities, and deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery (80%)
Lead and manage
large-scale, complex IT projects , including:
Discovery and requirements definition Vendor selection and implementation SaaS deployments Enterprise system integrations IT infrastructure upgrades Application upgrades and modernization initiatives
Develop, maintain, and execute
integrated project plans
using project management best practices, including:
Scope, schedule, budget, risk, communication, resource, and procurement management
Manage multiple concurrent projects with moderate to high complexity and performance risk Maintain project artifacts including:
Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) RAID logs Dashboards and status reports Project schedules and financial tracking
Facilitate project meetings, stand-ups, steering committees, vendor sessions, and executive briefings Ensure projects align with
our IT governance , UIT PMO standards, and quality expectations Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively Drive continuous improvement across project delivery processes Technical Contribution (20%)
Support system integration planning, data flow mapping, and technical evaluations Collaborate with engineering, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure technical feasibility and risk mitigation Support testing strategies, quality assurance processes, and system cutover planning Apply working knowledge of:
IT infrastructure Application architecture Data integration SDLC methodologies Information security and privacy practices
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Partner effectively with:
Functional leads Business owners Faculty and operational teams Vendors and external partners Executive sponsors
Communicate clearly and professionally with
technical and non-technical audiences Balance customer expectations with project realities in a consensus-driven environment Build trust, motivate diverse cross-functional teams, and resolve conflicts diplomatically Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field
and 8-10 years of experience
managing large, complex IT projects, including:
Project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting Multi-stakeholder environments Moderate performance risk An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams Strong command of project management disciplines:
Integration, scope, time, cost, quality, HR, communications, risk, and procurement
Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, and problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal awareness and sound judgment Depth of technical knowledge sufficient to lead complex IT initiatives Desired Qualifications
PMP certification (strongly desired) Proven experience with
Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies Strong experience with:
SDLC Change, risk, and conflict management Complex, integrated project plans with detailed WBS
Demonstrated leadership in consensus-driven environments Strong negotiation, facilitation, and decision-making skills Experience with the following tools:
MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio Smartsheet ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Zoom, Slack
Experience with enterprise systems such as:
Oracle E-Business Suite Oracle HCM PeopleSoft (Student and HR Administration)
Experience managing:
IT infrastructure projects Application and system integrations Quality assurance and testing processes Data integration across platforms
Understanding of:
Web application architecture System and application integration Technology tiers and object-oriented concepts
Work Environment & Conditions
Hybrid role
requiring
a minimum of 2 days onsite per week
at the our Redwood City Campus (more days may be required based on project needs) Occasional local travel between campuses, our Healthcare Hospital, and our Children's Hospital Office environment with extended desk/computer work Physical requirements include frequent sitting and fine manipulation; occasional standing/walking; light lifting up to 10 lbs
