Some of what you will do:

The Senior Manager, Inventory Planning & Replenishment is a strategic leadership role responsible for owning the lifecycle of a significant inventory portfolio, managing varying levels of complexity and volume. Unlike traditional replenishment roles, this position operates as a change agent, driving the transformation of Staples' supply chain capabilities, including the transition to a Single Pool of Inventory (Omni-channel) model.

This leader will partner directly with Merchandising Category Managers and B2B Sales leadership to drive category strategies, govern inventory health, and deliver financial results. The Senior Manager does not just execute replenishment; they design the strategies that optimize in-stock levels, turns, and cash flow while leading a team of analysts through a period of significant organizational evolution.

Specifically, You Will:

Strategic Planning & Inventory Governance (40%)

  • Own the end-to-end inventory strategy for the assigned portfolio (ranging from high-volume core categories to complex strategic business lines), serving as the strategic counterpart to Merchandising Category Managers.
  • Partner with Merchandising and B2B Sales teams to align inventory positioning with sales forecasts and contract commitments, ensuring service levels for key commercial accounts.
  • Lead the transition from channel-specific management to a "Single Pool of Inventory" model
  • Design workflows that optimize inventory across all fulfillment nodes (FCs, Retail, Marketplace) to support a seamless customer experience.
  • Proactively manage Open-to-Buy inventory strategies and drive initiatives to reduce excess & obsolete inventory. Move beyond reporting KPIs to influencing the inputs that drive them.
  • Establish and enforce governance around ordering parameters, safety stock policies, and demand planning inputs to ensure financial discipline.

Transformation & Process Leadership (30%)

  • Act as a senior leader within the Supply Chain transformation, bringing external best practices to mature the organization's capabilities. Identify gaps in current technology or process and champion solutions.
  • Lead the implementation of advanced planning processes and predictive analytics. Move the function from reactive replenishment to proactive demand planning and optimization.
  • Represent Supply Chain in high-level strategy meetings with Merchandising, Sales, Vendors, and Finance. Challenge the status quo to drive efficiency and cost savings.

Team Leadership & Talent Development (30%)

  • Lead, coach, and elevate a team of Replenishment Analysts. Shift the team's focus from transactional tasks to analytical decision making.
  • Actively recruit and develop top-tier talent, building a pipeline of future leaders who can operate in a complex, data-driven supply chain environment.
  • Dynamically manage team workload across multiple categories and lines of business to align with shifting organizational priorities.

Some of what you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or Mathematics. Master's in Business Administration or professional designation (APICS/ASCMP) is an asset.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain, Inventory Management, or Demand Planning.
  • Proven experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated success acting as a "change agent" in an organization undergoing supply chain modernization or system implementation.
  • Experience working within mature Supply Chain organizations (e.g., major retailers with advanced planning capabilities) is highly preferred.
