Elgin Manor is a 90-bed long-term care facility situated in the Township of Southwold, just a few minutes outside of St. Thomas, Ontario. Each home area is equipped with recreation rooms, sitting areas, and television lounges to enhance programming, socialization, and visits from family and friends. Elgin Manor also features multiple outdoor garden patio areas and walkways in a tranquil rural setting, right in the heart of beautiful Elgin County.

Position Title: Cook

Type:  Temporary, Full-time

Compensation: $ $28.09/hour as per collective agreement

About the Role:

As a member of the dietary team, the Cook is responsible for the preparation and production of all food served in the Home. The Cook also participates in menu presentation as well as produces high quality, nutritious and appetizing food while maintaining safe and sanitary food handling and work procedures. 

Qualifications:

• Chef training or culinary management diploma or certificate meeting the requirements of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021
• Current Food Handling Certificate
• Experience in an institutional kitchen preferred
• Excellent communication skills

Conditions of Employment:

• Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to the County of Elgin.
