About the Digital Learning Specialist, AI Integration Lead Role:
Humber Polytechnic is seeking an experienced academic innovator to serve as our Digital Learning Specialist – AI Integration Lead. This role will inspire and guide the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence into teaching and learning practices. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Teaching Excellence this role is ideal for a seasoned educator or scholar with a proven track record of advancing curriculum innovation, pedagogical transformation, and the meaningful application of AI technologies in education. The successful candidate will bring insight, creativity and leadership to the exploration of AI's potential to enhance learning design, assessment and student engagement, all grounded in research, ethical practice and educational purpose. ,
In collaboration with faculty, IT, and academic leadership, the AI Integration Lead will design and implement AI-enhanced learning experiences, build institutional capacity, and contribute to sector-wide leadership in educational technology.
Key Responsibilities:
AI Strategy & Implementation
· Lead the development and execution of an institutional strategy for AI adoption in teaching and learning.
· Evaluate and implement AI tools (e.g., generative AI, adaptive learning platforms, intelligent tutoring systems) to enhance pedagogy and student engagement.
· Ensure ethical, inclusive, and transparent use of AI in educational contexts.
Faculty Collaboration & Support
· Partner with faculty to co-design AI-enhanced curriculum, assessments, and learning activities.
· Provide training, consultation, and resources to build AI literacy and confidence among educators.
· Translate complex AI and IT concepts into practical applications for non-technical audiences.
Innovation & Sector Leadership
· Monitor global trends in AI and education, and identify opportunities for institutional leadership.
· Represent the institution in sector-wide initiatives, conferences, and working groups focused on AI in education.
· Contribute to research, publications, and thought leadership in digital learning innovation.
Instructional Design & Digital Pedagogy
· Apply instructional design principles to integrate AI tools into learner-centered course design.
· Collaborate with instructional designers and technologists to ensure pedagogical alignment and accessibility

Education
Master's degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, AI, Instructional Design, or a related field.
Experience/Skills
The successful candidate will have a minimum 5-7 years' work-related experience and should demonstrate the following:
· Master's degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, AI, Instructional Design, or a related field.
· Proven experience implementing AI tools in educational settings.
· Strong understanding of digital pedagogy and instructional design frameworks.
· Exceptional communication skills and ability to bridge technical and academic domains.
· Experience in a polytechnic or applied learning environment.
· Familiarity with learning analytics, data privacy, and responsible AI practices.
· Track record of thought leadership or published work in AI and education.
