Come work with usAt the City of Leduc, we are in the midst of an ambitious digital transformation. We aren't just maintaining systems; we are reimagining how technology serves our citizens and our staff. To help us cross the finish line on some of our most critical enterprise-wide initiatives, we are looking for a high-caliber IT Project Manager to join our Corporate Information Technology (CIT) team for a one-year term .
This is a unique opportunity for a delivery-focused professional who thrives on complexity and wants to lead high-visibility projects that have a direct, lasting impact on a growing municipality.
What is the Opportunity?Reporting directly to the Director, Corporate Information Technology, this one-year term position is designed for a leader who can step in and immediately take ownership of our most complex digital investments. This isn't a "business as usual" role; you will be the driving force behind projects that align with the City's Digital Strategy and Target IT Operating Model.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between technical teams, external vendors, and business owners. You will ensure that every approved technology investment is delivered with precision, risks are mitigated before they become issues, and organizational change is handled with care to ensure long-term success.
What will you do?In this fast-paced, one-year mission, you will be the primary lead for enterprise-level IT delivery. You will:
Lead the full lifecycle of complex digital initiatives, from initial project charters and budgeting to final execution and closure.
Apply formal project governance to ensure all initiatives move smoothly through intake and approval while complying with security, privacy, and procurement standards.
Act as a strategic partner to business owners across the city, translating their operational needs into executable technical projects.
Oversee the work of external vendors and system integrators to ensure their deliverables meet the City's high standards for quality and timeline.
Coordinate internal and external resources to maintain delivery continuity and maximize our team's capacity.
Lead the change enablement process by coordinating training and communications to ensure new technology is actually adopted and embraced by staff.
Identify and mitigate operational risks associated with technology change, keeping project sponsors informed of potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
Evaluate project outcomes and lessons learned to help us refine our delivery standards and continuous improvement practices.
You are a "systems thinker" who is future-focused and proactive. You bring:
A bachelor's degree in Information technology, Computer Science, Business or a related field.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience delivering complex, enterprise-level IT or digital projects.
A deep understanding of project management methodologies, with a PMP or equivalent designation preferred.
Proven experience managing high-stakes technology initiatives, including enterprise systems and infrastructure.
The ability to influence key decision-makers and navigate a dynamic environment with competing urgent demands.
Strong presentation and report-writing skills, with the confidence to communicate project status and budgets to senior committees.
A collaborative approach to leadership, with experience managing vendor performance and external delivery partners.
ITIL and Change Management certification or experience in the public sector would be considered a significant asset for this role.
What we Offer?Because this is a specialized one-year term, we offer an experience that is as rewarding as it is challenging. In this role, you will find:
A high-impact portfolio where you will lead the implementation of modern technology that will define the City's operational future.
Direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to work on projects with significant financial and organizational scale.
A culture that values your expertise, offering the autonomy to manage scope and resources to achieve the best possible outcomes.
A focus on work-life balance through flexible thinking, respectful collaboration, and a supportive team environment.
Access to our City recreation centre and our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) to support your health and well-being during your term.
A professional milestone opportunity to add a massive municipal digital transformation to your portfolio of successful projects.
This is a one-year term position with an end date of March 12, 2027.
The successful candidate must provide a current Criminal Record Check at their own expense.
Please include a cover letter detailing your experience in building data maturity and leading organizational change.
If you are a project leader who wants to spend the next year making a tangible difference in a community that is looking toward the future, we want to hear from you. Apply today at .
