POSITION SUMMARY

This position reports to a manager in the City Planning & Community Services Division. The position will facilitate collaboration between City departments, and external stakeholders, to achieve outcomes that bring vibrancy within the City Centre Area.

The Coordinator, City Centre is the key point of contact to coordinate service level improvements, addressing operational maintenance concerns, and communicating with external stakeholders such as the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID), the Regina Warehouse Business Improvement District (WHBID), and all other related stakeholders in the City Centre.  

This position will also participate on multi-disciplinary project teams relating to planning, operational, vibrancy and activation initiatives that advance the Strategic Priorities listed within the City's Strategic Plan.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet with Branches and Departments leading capital and operational work in the City Centre to identify and facilitate service level enhancements, issues, and opportunities for collaboration..
  • Coordinate with internal City Branches to resolve service level issues identified by the City Centre stakeholders in a timely manner (may include some evenings and weekends).
  • Provide regular communication between the City and City Centre stakeholders, including written updates and check-in meetings.
  • Provide support to Project Managers, Managers, Directors and Deputy City Managers for meetings with stakeholders, including BID Board Meetings.
  • Prepare briefing materials, spreadsheets, speaking notes, and other material for internal stakeholders, as required, related to City Centre coordination, collaboration and service levels.
  • Gather data, information, coordinate requests, answer questions and identify appropriate stakeholders needed to advance City Centre service level improvements or strategic projects within the City Centre.
  • Managing contracts for the City Centre, including those related to service levels and enhancements.
  • Contribute to process improvements and monitoring of actions and major initiatives impacting the City Centre.
  • Other duties as required.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate multiple priorities with a focus on Customer service experience, especially as it relates to the facilitation of external initiatives and multiple viewpoints.
  • Knowledge of the function of a BID and other major stakeholder within City Centre and their relationship to the City of Regina.
  • A thorough understanding of municipal organizational structures.
  • Ability to apply project management principles and experience and skills.
  • Technical ability to coordinate reporting of metrics and performance measures.
  • Political acumen and experience working in government.
  • Professionalism and decisiveness in emergencies or urgent situations are a requirement.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required are obtained through a university degree or a two (2) year diploma in administration, planning, engineering or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years' experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders in the execution of projects.
  • Must have experience and be comfortable communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, construction crews, and advocates.
  • Candidates who thrive in social settings and excel at stakeholder relations will be most successful in this position.
  • Formal project management training or equivalencies are a definite asset.
  • Planning, Engineering or trades experience would be an asset.
  • WORK/OTHER CONDITIONS

  • Responds to call-outs and emergencies as required.
  • Some outdoor work may be required for this role.
  • Indoor office work, external meetings and regular outdoor, on-site meetings are required for this role.
