Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your talents as the Project Manager with the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre Research Institute (PMCC-RI).
The Project Manager will work directly with project leadership at PMCC-RI to support the institute's projects, and acts the prime day-to-day liaison between program leadership, clinical teams, and program partners. As a Project Manager you will be responsible for developing, implementing and providing ongoing project management leadership and support for an interdisciplinary research institute aimed at developing therapies for cardiac diseases. You will work closely and effectively with project team members, clinical and administrative stakeholders, commercialization professionals, leaders and external parties as required to ensure that projects are correctly chartered, planned, and executed within scope, on time, and within budget.

Duties

  • Initiate and plan projects including the development of scope, goals and objectives
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and documentation, including work plans, risk management plans, project schedules, a system of tracking and sharing project status, resources, key milestones, cost estimates and budgets
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of project coordinators and provide direction, mentorship and coaching as appropriate
  • Conduct check-ins between all internal and external partners to ensure stakeholders are supported with day-to-day operations and are meeting program milestones and deliverable requirements
  • Execute, track and monitor progress to plan and distribute the appropriate project information to all relevant stakeholders
  • Identify improvement opportunities and escalate key issues/risks; propose and execute solutions to address challenges or mitigate risks
  • Develop and present material for review and information using strong written, verbal, and graphical communication skills with the ability to express complex technical concepts effectively
  • Perform data analysis and prepare detailed reports; present findings to leadership teams
  • Organize, schedule and manage meetings where required to share core program progress and general program oversight
  • Collaborate with inter-professional teams to communicate insights on program operation
  • Support other administrative tasks including communications, development of funding proposal etc.
Qualifications
  • Masters degree required in Technology, Science, Business, or related field required. PhD degree preferred
  • Change management experience preferred
  • At least five (5) years project management experience or equivalent, required
  • At least five (5) years academic research experience, an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent is an asset
  • Wearable Evaluation and Assessment of Volume overload in Heart Failure Background in stem cell biology, cardiovascular biology, or engineering preferred 
  • Project planning, management and implementation experience required
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project (or equivalent software) required
  • Experience with writing proposals and reports required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of teams
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, organization and problem solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and competing priorities on an ongoing basis
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements
  • Flexibility to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with healthcare information systems, interfaces, and/or enterprise architecture is an asset
  • Experience extracting insights from data for decision making related to project management duties is an asset
  • Other certification (Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt, ITIL, IIBA, Change Management) is an asset
