Job description:

Full-time Support Worker (Day shifts)

2 Positions are available:

A) Sunday-Wednesday

B) Wednesday to Saturday

Time: 8 AM-8 PM

Worksite: In-person at 618, 7th St E, North Vancouver

Collective Agreement: Community Living Services Collective
Agreement BCGEU (Membership is Required)

Start date: ASAP

The Support Worker (SW) assists clients with their physical,
vocational, recreational, social, emotional, and daily life skill development.
The SW supports clients to achieve the greatest degree of independence and
quality of life as possible.

Full-time employees will be trained properly for this
specific program and will have a set schedule.

Education & Experience

  • Certificate
    in a related human / social services Degree or Grade 12 diploma or GED
    with equivalent combination of education, experience/training in mental
    health, childcare, medical or nursing
  • 1
    year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in
    vocational & community settings is preferred, but WILLING TO ACCEPT
    NEW GRADUATES FROM CANADIAN INSTITUTION OF RELATED DISCIPLINES.
  • Demonstrates
    ability to successfully implement instructional and proactive training
    programs for clients.
  • Must
    be able to perform lifts and transfers of 25 lbs.
  • Experience
    in implementing positive behaviour support programs in a day program
    environment is PREFERRED.

Requirements

  • Must
    be able to work with clients who have a challenging behaviour profile .
  • Must
    be able and willing to work in North Vancouver.
  • Must
    be male , physically active , outgoing and sociable, and
    engage and interact with the client
  • Must
    be a driver with a Class 5 driver's license (no restrictions)
  • Criminal

  • Demonstrates
    competency in English
  • Basic

Probation/Trial:

As outlined in the collective agreement, the first three
months
of your appointment will serve as a trial period to assess
your suitability for the position. If your performance is deemed

unsatisfactory or if you are unable to fulfill the duties
of the role, the trial period may be extended by an additional three months.
Additionally, the trial period will be extended to account for any absences
longer than two weeks that occur during this time. Based on the company policy,
you are required to give a minimum

of two weeks '
notice for your resignation from this position.
