Do you possess a strong understanding of Planning and Engineering development processes related to Development Permits, Agreements, and Subdivision applications review? We want to hear from you The Town of Stony Plain is looking for a seasoned development engineer who's ready to lead complex land development projects, collaborate across disciplines, and ensure high standards from concept to construction.
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Senior Engineer – Development is responsible for leading and coordinating land development engineering functions, including the review of planning, subdivision, and development applications for engineering compliance. This position reviews and accepts professional engineering drawings submissions on behalf of the Town and ensures their compliance with the Municipal Development Standards. The Senior Engineer also provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff as assigned, and supports the Manager, Engineering, through a range of development engineering projects and applications. The role also oversees engineering aspects of the Off-Site Levy program, including all technical inputs and preparation of the Annual Off-Site Levy Report.

We are seeking a candidate who:
- Has a strong understanding of Planning and Engineering development processes related to Development Permits, Agreements, and Subdivision Review
- Boasts strong analytical ability and technical oversight to provide high quality technical information in support of long-term decision making
- Exhibits extensive technical experience and knowledge with the ability to compile, analyze, evaluate, and interpret statistical engineering data in relation to the operation, construction, maintenance, and administration of municipal infrastructure
- Is able to provide mentorship and technical direction to junior engineers, technologists, and coop students
- Can communicate effectively and professionally with internal staff, the public, developers, contractors, consultants, as well as member of Council where applicable
- Has strong project management skills with a proven ability to make independent and efficient decisions while managing a high volume of work
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P/Eng.) with APEGA
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in municipal engineering like civil design, engineering and construction experience in transportation and utilities
- Project management experience
- Progressive leadership experience with proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop team
Asset Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering
- Project Management Professional Designation
- Experience with Public Presentations

Based on a 35-hour work week, the salary range for this position is $91,491 - $116,372 per annum. The Town offers an excellent 100% employer-paid benefit package, as well as enrollment in the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
