About the Job:
We are looking for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Mechanical Assembler to join our industrial manufacturing team. In this role, you will build and fit mechanical components, assemble hardware, and work with a variety of industrial parts used in our products. You'll follow engineering drawings, use a range of hand and power tools, and ensure each assembly meets our quality and safety standards.
This position is best suited for someone who enjoys mechanical work, is comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment, and takes pride in producing high‑quality, accurate assemblies.
Role Summary:
Build, fit, and assemble mechanical components and enclosures used in industrial products. Prepare parts, install hardware, perform mechanical adjustments, and follow engineering drawings and work instructions. Requires strong hands-on skills, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Assembly:
  • Assemble and fit metal parts, brackets, frames, and prefabricated components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use hand and power tools (drills, impacts, riveters, grinders) to drill, tap, mount, and align parts.
  • Install mechanical sub-assemblies, hinges, latches, gasketing, and mounting hardware as required.
  • Ensure assemblies meet dimensional, fit, and finish requirements using measurement tools.
Documentation & Workflow:
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, fabrication prints, and bills of materials.
  • Complete travelers, checklists, and production records accurately.
  • Follow standard work instructions and maintain revision control.
Quality:
  • Inspect and verify that assembled components meet quality requirements.
  • Identify and report part defects, misalignments, or nonconforming material.
  • Support basic rework tasks such as disassembly, adjustment, or replacement of components.
Tools & Equipment:
  • Operate shop equipment such as drill presses, pneumatic tools, torque tools, and basic machinery as permitted.
  • Maintain safe and proper use of tools.
Safety:
  • Follow all company safety procedures and WorkSafe BC guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S principles.

Qualifications:
  • 1 - 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly within manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial equipment production.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares).
  • Skilled with hand and power tools; comfortable performing drilling, tapping, mounting, and fitting tasks.
  • Physically able to lift components, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Assets: experience with sheet-metal enclosures or industrial equipment assembly; forklift or overhead crane experience; technical training in mechanical/industrial technology.
Success Indicators:
  • High first-pass quality with minimal rework.
  • Consistent on-time completion of assembly steps.
  • Strong adherence to drawings, instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Positive teamwork and communication with supervisors and peers.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Activities: Sitting - 30% Walking/Standing - 70%.
  • Lifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.
  • Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.
  • Demands: Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Environment: Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
Employment Details:
  • Shift: Day - Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours per week).
  • Schedule Perk: Every Friday off (no rotating shifts).
  • Pay: CA$20 - CA$22 per hour (hourly rate based on experience).
  • Benefits: Available after probation period.
  • Reviews: Performance and wage reviews at 3, 6, and 12 months.
