We build intelligent, scalable backend systems that power real-time logistics operations for enterprise clients. Our infrastructure runs on AWS using modern DevOps practices, microservices architecture, and API-first design principles.
The Role:
We're seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with strong DevOps experience to design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure across multiple accounts. You'll work with Terraform to build scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures that support our microservices applications, data pipelines, and analytics platforms.
Core Responsibilities:
· Infrastructure Management:
o Design and implement AWS infrastructure using Terraform
o Manage multi-account AWS setup with SSO integration and cross-account access
o Build reusable Terraform modules
o Configure AWS Cognito for authentication and authorization
o Set up ECS Fargate clusters with auto-scaling and blue-green deployments
o Manage RDS/Aurora databases (backups, read replicas, performance tuning)
o Implement CloudFront distributions for CDN and static website hosting
· CI/CD & Automation:
o Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
o Automate deployments for ECS services, Lambda functions, and static sites
o Create deployment scripts and automation tools (PowerShell, Bash)
· Monitoring & Reliability:
o Design CloudWatch dashboards and alarms for critical metrics
o Implement centralized logging (CloudWatch Logs, log aggregation)
o Configure SNS topics for alerting and incident management
o Respond to infrastructure incidents and perform root cause analysis
o Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies
· Security & Compliance:
o Implement AWS WAF rules (OWASP Top 10, rate limiting, geo-blocking)
o Configure IAM roles, policies, and least-privilege access
o Manage Secrets Manager and KMS encryption keys
o Implement security best practices (VPC Flow Logs, CloudTrail, GuardDuty)
o Conduct security audits and remediate vulnerabilities
· Cost Optimization:
o Monitor AWS costs and implement cost-saving measures
o Right-size EC2/ECS instances and RDS databases
o Implement auto-scaling policies based on traffic patterns
o Use Spot instances and Savings Plans where appropriate
o Analyze Cost Explorer and provide monthly cost reports
· Collaboration:
o Work with backend developers to optimize ECS task definitions
o Support frontend developers with CloudFront and S3 configurations
o Document infrastructure architecture and runbooks
o Mentor team members on AWS best practices
o Participate in architecture design discussions
Experience:
· 4-6 years of Cloud Engineering and DevOps experience
· 3-5 years of hands-on AWS experience (EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM)
· 2+ years of Terraform experience (modules, state management, workspaces)
· Proven experience managing production infrastructure for web applications
· Experience with Linux system administration (Ubuntu/Amazon Linux)
Technical Skills:
· Strong Terraform proficiency (state management, modules, workspaces, remote backends)
· Experience with Docker and container orchestration (ECS, Kubernetes)
· Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, or Python)
· Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines)
· Knowledge of Git and GitOps workflows
· Experience with infrastructure testing (Terratest, kitchen-terraform, or similar)
Soft Skills:
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Excellent documentation and communication abilities
· Ability to work independently and make architectural decisions
· Comfortable with on-call rotations and incident response
· Collaborative mindset for working with development teams
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited university
· International degrees must be evaluated by recognized credential assessment services
Work Authorization:
· Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Compensation and Benefits:
· $85,000 - $130,000 annually based on experience, AWS knowledge, and technical assessment performance.
