Homewood Ravensview is a private 75-bed mental health, trauma and addiction facility offering evidence-based, medically-led, inpatient services for first responders, military, veterans, adults, and young adults. Located in North Saanich on 28 acres of forested hillside, Homewood Ravensview offers clients a comfortable and safe environment featuring serene ocean views from spacious rooms, welcoming common areas and a world-class team of physicians, psychiatrists, counsellors and 24-hour nursing professionals.
As an Associate Counsellor, you will be an integral part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. In this role you will provide patient-centered treatment, rehabilitation, and support for individuals with mental illness and addiction disorders. This role focuses on creating a safe, dignified environment and involves operationalizing psycho-educational and group schedules, facilitating groups, conducting individual sessions to aid patients' understanding of group materials, and assisting in developing personalized care plans.
What You'll Be Doing
Facilitate specific psycho-educational and group-based clinical sessions
Provide 1:1 patient support as per care plans
Support the interdisciplinary team in delivering recreation therapy, therapeutic walks, and other programming activities
Assist in developing and implementing individualized, person-centered care plans
Administer psychometric surveys and support Measurement-Based Care initiatives
Observe and report changes in patient behavior, physical, or cognitive status
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and records
Respond to crisis situations using trauma-informed and non-violent intervention techniques
Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and organizational policies
Maintain professional boundaries and uphold strict patient confidentiality
Contribute to a clean, safe, and respectful treatment environment
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Health Care, Addictions, Education, or a related field (Master's candidate preferred)
Current First Aid/CPR Certification for Health Care Providers (Level 1 or greater)
Two years recent related experience in a community mental health and/or substance use setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience working in a relevant related industry such as police, fire, military or paramedic
Demonstrated ability to apply clinical and critical thinking expertise, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with others
Knowledge of substance misuse and of problems encountered by chemically dependent individuals
Knowledge of addiction recovery principles, mental health treatment, and basic Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) concepts
Ability to establish and maintain rapport with patients as well as observe and recognize changes in patients
Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage aggressive behavior and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques
Effective verbal and written communication skills

Homewood Health promotes a fair and competitive compensation model. Pay rates are tailored to reflect differences in operating environments and job requirements. Compensation is influenced by many factors including compensation principles or approach for a role or job function, organizational tenure, experience, qualifications or premium skills, external competitiveness, internal comparability, geography and work performance. The salary range for this role $ 49,638 - $ 62,054.
