The Opportunity
Graham Mathew CPA is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to play a critical leadership role in the firm's continued growth and success.
This position is ideal for a technically strong, client-focused tax professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys both strategic advisory work and mentoring others. You will lead complex tax engagements, build lasting client relationships, and contribute meaningfully to the firm's long-term strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies related to:
Business incorporations
Corporate reorganizations (including trust integration)
Purchase and sale transactions
Estate planning
Shareholder remuneration planning
Deliver high-quality tax advisory services to private clients and businesses
Build, manage, and grow a strong book of business
Lead multifaceted client engagements across a range of industries
Review personal, corporate, trust, and partnership tax work for completeness and accuracy
Provide tax planning valuations and review tax election forms
Coordinate advice with advisors in other jurisdictions
Support strategic direction and firm growth initiatives
Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members
Manage billing proposals, WIP, and client billings
Stay current on evolving tax legislation and best practices
Qualifications & Experience
Education
CPA, CA designation
Completion (or near completion) of CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program or a Master of Taxation degree
Minimum 5+ years specializing in tax within a public accounting firm
Experience & Technical Expertise
Progressive experience serving private clients and high net worth individuals
Strong ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and effectively
Experience with domestic and foreign-owned entities, M&A, corporate structures, divestitures, tax accounting methods, and financial reporting
Knowledge of GST/HST
Experience with Taxprep / Profile
Familiarity with tax research platforms such as Knotia, CTF Taxfind, TaxnetPro, VideoTax News, CCH AnswerConnect, and Blue J Tax
Proven leadership and mentoring capability
