What You'll Do
Develop and implement government relationship management plans across municipal, provincial and federal governments
Maintain and strengthen relationships with elected officials, senior civil servants and sector partners
Serve as the primary point of contact for government officials and public policy stakeholders
Support efforts to secure capital and operational funding by establishing mutually beneficial objectives between YW and all levels of government
Identify, monitor and act on government funding opportunities
Gather content, coordinate information and support the writing and presentation of government funding submissions relating to operational and capital funding opportunities
Facilitate collaboration with the YWCAs of Alberta, YWCA Canada and other sector collaborations to advance shared provincial and federal policy priorities
Translate frontline experiences into policy positions that elevate the voices of women and gender diverse people
Work with Communications and Brand and Marketing to develop advocacy content, including social media, opeds, blogs, presentations and public statements
Support the development, renewal and management of government contracts in collaboration with Finance and program teams.
Represent YW in discussions with public servants and elected officials regarding program and service funding
What You'll Bring
Postsecondary education in Government Relations, Public Policy, Public Governance, or a related field
Five to Seven (5-7) years of experience in government relations, public policy, or political environments
Strong understanding of political strategy, policy development, and experience working with senior civil servants and elected officials
Strong interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholders
Strategic thinker with the ability to navigate complex issues and develop innovative solutions
Proven ability to influence, collaborate and negotiate across social services, nonprofit sectors and government
