The Staff Project Controls Specialist leads project controls processes and consults with the project management team to ensure client satisfaction. Presents schedule and budget status reports to project management team and client and will support all aspects of project controls and reporting, including, project change management, cost control, progress measurement, schedule development and schedule control.
Job Duties
Prepares the statement of work and the estimate for BMcD services.
Monitors weekly hours and costs to maintain budget integrity.
Follows up with clients and internal teams to provide explanations to support approvals.
Performs variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, providing detailed explanations and forward-looking recommendations to the project management team to mitigate potential cost overruns.
Identifies and drafts change orders as needed.
Ensures proper project set-up in the Enterprise Planning and Controls software (e.g., Ecosys).
Performs Ecosys maintenance and ensures data accuracy.
Analyzes project data, reviews logs and runs reports to support project management.
Develops and maintains effective cost reports, cash flows and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
Contributes to the continuous improvement of internal cost control processes by developing and refining standardized templates, reports and dashboards.
Interfaces with the Project Management Team and Accounting Department to review project costs, contingency and maintain invoice audit sheets.
Consults with the project team on schedule progress and its impact on cost.
Develop various levels of schedules.
Apply and review the entry of logic ties within the schedules.
Monitor resource loading of a schedule.
Any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related field, and 3 years of direct project controls experience required.
Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Strong understanding of budgeting, cost management, financial modeling and forecasting preferred.
Experience with data analysis and visualization tools like Microsoft Excel, Power BI or Tableau preferred.
A strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), risk management techniques and work breakdown structures preferred.
Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to not only identify variances but also to investigate root causes and evaluate the feasibility of potential solutions preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present complex financial data clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders and provide persuasive, data-driven recommendations. Preferred.
A keen eye for detail is essential for identifying potential issues and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of project data preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience with cost management software (e.g., Ecosys), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP) and data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, advanced Excel) is preferred.
A certification from the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), such as the Certified Cost Professional (CCP), or a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Experience with Oracle Primavera P6.
Willingness to accept long term field assignments.
OSHA 10-hour safety certification, ability to obtain.
Compensation
The expected compensation range for this position is $105, $135,000.00 annually, in compliance with Ontario's Pay Transparency requirements. Final compensation will be based on education, qualifications, prior experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
