About The Role
As a Compliance Manager, you'll support an iconic automotive brand and help create ground-breaking work, a future vision, and growth for the account. This role requires an individual with a strong foundation in production, creative, and legal compliance, specifically in advertising compliance, intellectual property rights, and creative asset review. The position will be heavily focused on automotive brand campaigns, working closely with both in-house teams and external partners to ensure legal compliance and smooth workflow.
Responsibilities
Legal Clearances & Compliance: Oversee and ensure all creative assets related to campaigns (print, radio, digital, TV, and social media) comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including applicable consumer protection and advertising laws. This includes securing the necessary clearances for talent, music, trademarks and other related intellectual property rights.
Contract & Release Management: Draft and review a variety of legal agreements related to advertising and production campaigns, including talent contracts, location releases, music licenses, likeness releases, and other relevant agreements. Ensure all documents are in place for campaign approval and implementation.
Collaboration with Legal, Business Affairs, & Production Teams: Work alongside our integrated Business Affairs team to advise on and mitigate legal risks during the project lifecycle, including intellectual property rights management, licensing, usage rights, and other clearance and compliance matters, as well as review initial creative, rough cuts, and approve assets prior to release. Act as a key point of contact for both internal and external partners to address legal feedback and streamline approval processes, and ensure clear communication and seamless collaboration between teams.
Efficient Workflow Management: Support the team in maintaining a structured, efficient workflow. As the team matures, contribute to refining processes to ensure that the approval and clearance process runs like "clockwork" with minimal friction. Help the team understand bandwidth, delegation, and timing.
Training & Process Development: Help build and implement processes to improve the agency's legal compliance work. Provide training and guidance to internal teams about legal requirements, intellectual property rights, and the importance of compliance.
Report to the VP, Legal & Business Affairs and work closely with the Business Affairs team and Commercial Legal team to ensure all campaigns are managed seamlessly and effectively and in accordance with the applicable client contract.
