Access Services and Resource Sharing is part of the University of Victoria Libraries and consists of: Circulation Services; Music & Media, the Technical Support Unit, Stack Maintenance, Distance Learning & Research, and ReQuest for Faculty. The Libraries are made up of approximately 150 employees including Faculty Librarians, professional and CUPE staff, and student assistants. The UVic Libraries support the teaching, research, and learning needs of our campus and the broader communities.
Reporting to the Manager, Access Services, this position supports the University of Victoria Libraries' values and goals by supervising a strong and diverse staff team dedicated to service excellence who provide service to library users at multiple service points across UVic Libraries. As a member of the Access Services supervisory team, this role assigns staff and delegates work to ensure efficient operations in order to create consistently outstanding service for library users.
This position requires occasionally moving weights over 10 kgs (22 lbs.) and accessing items from a variety of heights. This position may be required to work varied day, evening and weekend shifts.
Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a similar position, preferably in a post-secondary or institutional environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Ability to work effectively independently or within a team
Ability to provide individual staff support and feedback
Ability to exercise reasoning, judgment and creativity to solve problems in a variety of contexts
Ability to instruct staff and library users with diverse learning needs and learning styles
Demonstrated flexibility in a responsive work environment that allows for changes in priorities
Ability to conduct basic research and write reports as directed
Specialized Knowledge/Education
High school graduation or equivalent
Some post-secondary education or work experience preferred
