HEABC leads and supports the strategic planning related to human resources and labour relations on behalf of British Columbia's publicly funded health employers.

HEABC's Human Resources, Strategies & Services (HRSS) department is responsible for the administration of a number of Health Human Resource initiatives across the province, supporting health employers, practitioners, and system partners through coordinated services, programs, and strategic initiatives that strengthen workforce planning and delivery.

The successful candidate may be permitted to work in a hybrid model (combination of in-office and flexible work location) and will live within commuting distance of our Vancouver office.

OPPORTUNITY:

HEABC has an opportunity for two 16-month contracts for a Team Lead, Special Projects (the Team Lead). Reporting to the Manager, Special Projects, the Team Lead, supports the delivery of defined, time-bound organizational initiatives that have impact within the HR Services and Strategies Department (HRSS). The Team Lead operates as a project coordination hub for their assigned initiatives, supporting structured engagement, clear communication, and disciplined execution on behalf of the HRSS department. The role works closely with project managers, governance bodies, and departmental staff to gather input, track progress, surface risks, and ensure work moves forward smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acts as the primary accountability lead for assigned special projects on behalf of HRSS.
  • Supports effective project execution by tracking timelines, deliverables, and emerging issues, and escalating concerns, as needed.
  • Ensures strong alignment and communication among internal partners, external organizations (as required), and health sector collaborators to support smooth project execution.
  • Facilitates two-way communication between departmental staff, project management resources, and governance bodies to ensure information is accurate, timely, and decision ready.
  • Coordinates and synthesizes input from subject-matter experts and operational teams, consolidating feedback, risks, dependencies, and recommendations.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline
  • A minimum of five (5) years' recent related experience, including experience supporting complex projects or initiatives in a cross-functional environment
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to be sensitive to context.
  • A proven ability to plan and execute projects with stringent timelines.
  • The ability to synthesize information into clear, concise summaries and recommendations.
  • Comfort working alongside project managers without duplicating roles or creating parallel processes.
  • Sound judgment in identifying when to resolve issues independently and when to escalate.

Salary Range: $74,618 to $97,937

Typical Hiring Range: $74,618 to $93,273

In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate's skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
