Reporting to the Head Cook (or his/her delegate), the Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting Head Cook in food preparation including but not limited to: chopping, cutting, marinating and peeling at the assigned store or Central Kitchen. The Assistant Cook is also responsible for checking the quality and quantities of the receiving food products, carrying and storing the products properly, and ensuring the cleanliness of kitchen utensils, including tools, containers, clothes, towels, working and food storage areas.
T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 37 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
Responsible for the storage of food, including incoming stock
Responsible for preparing ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood
Ensure proper receiving is done and food is stored in the appropriate conditions
Responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all items are appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift
Ensure recipes, ingredient specifications, quantities, quality, cooking times as stated in the SOPs are being executed
Ensure the kitchen meets sanitation standards as set by the Head Chef and Food safety requirements
Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and that FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
Ensure that food is properly stored and handled at all times by ensuring all temperature records are properly completed
Responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment and tools maintenance ; ensure garbage, recycled materials and other disposable items are handled timely and properly
Possess knowledge, skills and prior experience in making Kitchen Deli products (BBQ, Hot Foods, Dim Sum, Sushi and/or other Semi-finished Products)
Possess 1 to 3 years or more relevant experience
Possess knowledge in workplace health safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification is preferred)
Good communication skills
Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning and evening hours
